Personal Bio

Richard Meena Jr.Born and raised in Louisville, Richard Meena, Jr. has represented thousands of individuals and small businesses in both civil, criminal and administrative cases for over 35 years. He has successfully tried cases in both the District and Circuit Courts in Kentucky and argued before both the Kentucky Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Kentucky. Richard’s strong reputation for honesty, integrity, and knowledge of the law led to his appointment as a Special Justice to the Kentucky Supreme Court. Richard is also licensed to practice in both the United States District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Kentucky, as well as the Supreme Court of the United States of America.

While Richard has strong ties and maintains his legal practice in Louisville, he also has represented individuals throughout the state, again in both civil and criminal litigation. He is routinely referred cases by other attorneys in the state, as his reputation for hard work, honesty, and success in the courtroom have made him a trusted name not just to his clients, but other members of the Bar. Attorneys in the community were asked if they or a member of their family were in need of legal services, who would they choose? There can be no greater compliment than when other attorneys trust their family members to one of their peers. Richard was chosen amongst a select group of attorneys earning this distinction.

  • Argued successfully in the Kentucky Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Kentucky
  • Admitted to the United States District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Kentucky and the US Supreme Court
  • 1985 – 88 Brandeis School of Law (University of Louisville): Served as president of the Moot Court Board, was a member of the Honor Council, and was a Book Award and Dean’s List recipient.

Education:

Received his B.A. in Chemistry from the University of Louisville (1985). Graduated Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville (1988).

Past Employment:

Richard was fortunate to clerk for and work with legendary criminal defense attorney Frank E. Haddad, Jr. from 1985 until Mr. Haddad’s untimely death in 1995. During that time, Richard practiced both criminal defense and personal injury law, having the opportunity to work alongside several of the top litigators in the state.
